Absurd? - hell yes.

"The White House has dismissed as "absurd" allegations made in a BBC TV series that President Bush claimed God told him to invade Iraq." BBC News

Well, if their going to start dismissing things that are absurd how about starting with George. please.

Operating on the principal that the white house is full of habitual liars, their fierce denial pretty much confirms that the claims are true. So first it was WMD. Then it was regime change. Of course, it was never oil. Finally we learn that its really voices in Mr Bushes head wispering 'Kill George, Kill. KILL.' Its kind of comforting knowing that his finger is on the button. I mean, going to nuclear hell because George is a war mongering cretin would be terrible. But if God wants it to happen, well, thats ok.

On a much happier note. A vaccine for cervical cancer in 12 months BBC News again - gotta be pleased with that.

Odd that god chose to tell George to start a war on terror rather than telling the terrorists to stop, no?

GWB - only 2 years and 4 months left. That is how I'm getting through - it's so close to being over, but I know in 2 years 4 month he can wreck some havoic on us all. Living so close to the White House knowing that I'm in the initial 10 mile blast destruction radius is not very comforting. However, i keep my Code Orange Emergancy pack ready in the car (seriously) and my office Shelter-in-Place kit ready, and my plan of escape (pretty much go west and don't stop) I'll be able to survive 2 years 4 months

God: The creator has a really funny sense of humor, I'm thinking s/he did it on a dare from Elvis (he's a character even in death) and GWB didn't realize it.

Vaccine: HURRAY!! My Cervic is doing a happy dance as it enjoys being Cancer free and would like to remain so.

The end

I think he meant to say
"dick cheney told me to invade iraq" Although obviously with george being so simple, he might have confused the two.

I think dick cheney is also a beetle.

When I heard this story my bull*hit detector went off. When I found out that the source was palestinian and that it came from multiple translations of a conversation my detector exploded.

It's also a story well over two years old that the Guardian chose to run as its main story of the day the same time that other papers chose to run the story about a potential 100% cure for cervical cancer.

The guardian has an agenda, of course, which makes it all the more unbelievable.

From the Washington Post:

"Bush frequently speaks of his faith and trust in God. The translation from Bush's words into Arabic for the Palestinians, and then back to English again, appears to have distorted the tenor of his words."

You'll also find the BBC backing down from this story.

Just remember, left wing, right wing, they are all trying to spin their own version of the truth.

"The truth of that matter is, if you listen carefully, Saddam would still be in power if he were the president of the United States, and the world would be a lot better off." —George W. Bush, second presidential debate, St. Louis, Mo., Oct. 8, 2004

So, your saying he doesnt hear voices from God? He's just a regular moron? and this is good how?

I'm not making any comment about Bush. I am just saying that the provenance of the story invites us to take it cautiously.
